Never flush

  • Wipes — including "flushable" ones
  • Paper towels and tissues
  • Feminine products and diapers
  • Dental floss, cotton swabs
  • Cat litter
  • Medications

Never pour

  • Cooking grease and oil
  • Paint, solvents and thinners
  • Large amounts of bleach or drain cleaners
  • Pesticides or automotive fluids

Go easy on

  • Garbage disposals
  • Many laundry loads in one day
  • Long, frequent baths in a small system

Why it matters

Solids that don't break down fill the tank and clog the field. Chemicals kill the bacteria that do the work — especially important in advanced systems.

Common questions
